UPDATE **Due to the government shutdown in December and January, MDHS was forced to issue most of February’s SNAP benefits on January 17, 2019 to ensure that the funding was available. Because of this unavoidable shift in February’s benefits scheduling, MDHS had to shift the issuance dates for the months of March and April as well to lessen the number of days between SNAP benefits for most of our clients. This is an unusual circumstance and MDHS has made every effort to ensure that our clients receive their benefits in a timely manner while complying with federal laws. MDHS will be issuing April’s SNAP benefits on April 12th and as regularly scheduled for the month of May and going forward.**
March and April 2019 SNAP Benefits
Due to the partial government shutdown, most February 2019 SNAP benefits were issued early, during the month of January. In order to shorten the amount of time between the February, March, and April benefit issuance dates, MDHS has made adjustments to our normal issuance schedule. MDHS will issue ALL March and April 2019 benefits as follows:
- March 2019 issuance date for ALL clients: March 4th, 2019.
- April 2019 issuance date for ALL clients: April 12th, 2019.
Once issued and available on your EBT card, your SNAP benefits are available for food purchases for one year after the date they are issued. You do not have to spend the entire benefit amount during the month it is issued.
