Six Mississippi Counties Receive SNAP Replacement Benefit Extension
Holmes and Montgomery counties added to SNAP replacement waiver

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has approved a waiver extending the 10-day period for certain Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) households in Mississippi to request replacement benefits. The waiver has been granted for certain counties impacted by the March 24 -25, 2023, severe weather.

SNAP households in the following counties who suffered food loss as the result of the tornadoes have until Monday, April 24, 2023 to request replacement benefits: Holmes, Montgomery, Sharkey, Humphreys, Carroll, and Monroe.

SNAP households in all other counties impacted by weekend storms have ten (10) days to submit a SNAP replacement application. Applicants will be required to document a power outage lasting over four hours.

The application may be downloaded and submitted via the EA document upload feature on the MDHS website, email, or fax to your county worker.
